This group is about sharing the pleasure of creativity. The format is relatively unstructured. Group leaders choose a medium for the day and they or other members may provide some brief instruction and/or images for inspiration (e.g. Instagram, Pinterest). Members can practice the new technique, apply the new technique to an existing project, or work on an unrelated project. No previous experience with art is required: beginners can explore their creativity in a space free from judgement. Intermediate-level artists should be interested in exploring new mixed media. Drawing, water colour, pen and ink, pastel, acrylic paint, paper collage, slow stitching, textiles and fibre, natural and small loom weaving, wire, gel print making, stamp and stencil making, paper making, natural dye making, and three-dimensional assemblage are some of the possibilities. The group meets for about three hours once a month in members’ homes (providing they have the space) or in a coffee shop (when suitable). In advance of each session, the group leaders will let members know what materials will be provided. To supplement that, members can bring and share their own materials from home or from their preferred sources.
